Sunrise Over Kingston
Woke up to this amazing sunrise out my front window this morning and this is Natures Art.
Where do we go from here?
My son Chadwyck Wirtz took this photo, and it made me think where do we go from here, or where are we are now and what are we doing. As an artist you are always wanting to grow your art, improve your work or try something new. There is a fear of acceptance of your art. Is it good enough, is it interesting, is it beautiful?
Sometimes just random thoughts about art are intriguing. I read this morning in Arthritis Today that viewing beautiful art or a wonderful view can help you heal and feel better. Esther M. Sternberg MD wrote in the magazine that arthritis patients improved when they were creating art. The brain responds to beauty, so to improve how you feel and to improve your mood either enjoy art or create art.
My son also shares that going to the gym does the same thing. So today I am going to the gym, going to work in the gallery and work on my artwork tonight. Think I will be happy.
Out & About
Join me tonight if you are out and about at the First Friday Artwalk on Bainbridge Island.
My show called “Out & About” is up for the month.
Stop by tonight from 6PM to 8PM
Always great to see friends, new and old!!
Sketches from Venice
When I traveled to Venice last June with my husband, Michael, there was never really time to sit and sketch. Now that I am retired I find sketching the photos I took to be so relaxing.
These are done with ink pen, soft colored pencils and a black prisma pencil.
Fishing for Dreams
Oe of my former students also posted this photo of a family member fishing with his dog, maybe their father or grandfather. I have always wanted to learn how to Fly-fish. It looks so calming.
The painting came together more quickly than I would have thought.
Boat painting needs name
It is starting to leave summer and turn into fall. You can feel it in the air. For me that means I feel less guilty about spending less time in my garden and more in my studio.
Isaac Asimov wrote: “Writing, to me, is simply thinking through my fingers.”
To me painting is letting my fingers bring the thoughts from my mind to the canvas.
Venice Night
Finding a book about Whistler’s work, I so enjoyed the style of some the drawings. The work in the book is pastel and pen, but colored pencil and ink along with a black pen were fun for me.
Having traveled to Italy last June I have lots of fun photos to work with from the different areas. I would love to know what you think??
