”The painter draws wi…
”The painter draws with his eyes, not with his hands.
Whatever he sees, if he sees it clear, he can put down.
The putting of it down requires, perhaps, much care and labor,
but no more muscular agility than it takes for him to write his name. Seeing clear is the important thing.”

Love Hay Bales
8 x 10 Small study with my Friday painting group. The actual photo had so many bales I thought it might be confusing. I moved the barn off center as it was in the photograph. We were studying composition, which can make or break a painting.
Look at Me. I Need Help !
I was captivated by this old building in Port Townsend, Washington. The elegant symmetry of the brick juxtaposed to the deck in the back with the mountains and Puget Sound in the background seemed elegantly lonely.
The building calls out that it has been there a long time, has been sadly neglected, yet still maintains an air of its lovely past.
Lakeside
Can’t you just imagine relaxing in a boat, looking back at the shore? I see a scene from “On Golden Pond” where they do not fun into the rocks, if you remember the movie. The days of Fall are very beautiful in the Pacific Northwest.
Using a Palette knife is very freeing, scraping on paint and then scraping it, moving it and just having fun with it can give you a very natural painting.
