Almost forgot to photograph this one and post. This is a size 5 with a matching hat. I am going to be charging $65 for the dresses that are non-T-shirt dresses as they take several hours to make and the fabric is about $25. Not a lot of room for profit.
Month: May 2014
Black and White Sister Act
Made these two today in size 12 Month and 3T that are similar, but a little different. Another fun day sewing in my studio. Love big prints on little girls.
Just little light bicycle sewing
Still coming up with ideas for the thought of having a space in a local vintage market and enjoying the process of sewing and making a few accessories to sell. Yesterday made three little dresses and will post the third one when I take a photo.
Wonder what we did before digital cameras, instant posts and life in the fast lane. Does anyone even remember a telephone booth, or a party line or home economics in high school? So much has changed and so little has changed in the same time.
Texting has taken the place of talking and the place of typing…
Little girls rare still little girls and love fun dresses to make them smile. BTW I had to make a couple more dresses for the girls, so they could wash the ones I made for them. Too Cute!
Love Paris
Going with a bit of a Paris theme in this dress with a matching headband. Size 3T and will be for sale when I get a both or part of a both in Poulsbo. Watch for announcement.
New Dresses for Holly & Leah
Holly and Leah just moved back from New Zealand and for their return I made them two T-shirt dresses each as a Welcome Home gift. They liked them so much they are wearing them every day, so I made two more for them today! Hope they like them. Nice to have them back in the states.
Fun to bake
It is fun to bake for daily and friends. Knowing my two granddaughters and their family were on their way here from New Zealand, I decided welcome home cakes and cupcakes were in order.
Mannequin needs a name.
Yesterday my first mannequin arrived and I have decided it needs a name. I would name it after my granddaughters, but they are going to quickly outgrow the mannequins. Sure makes it more fun to photograph the dresses.
I have been asked to join a local Vintage Market with some of my original sailor dresses, so will be busy the next week or so sewing nautical dresses.
My blog seems to be transforming from artwork (oil painting) to designing children’s clothing. I love the design process and love the joy making dresses for adorable little girls and plan to add some boy toddler clothes in the future.
Enjoy!
Patio Light
When we traveled to Italy I loved sitting outside in the evening having a glass of wine in all the outdoor cafes. I knew I did not have tree old enough or big enough to hang lights from, so my husband came up with this idea this last weekend, so I have a little touch of Italy in Kingston.
Now it’s time for a glass of wine by the bay.
New Polka Dot Venture
I decided to try to come up with some fun throw pillows, more for sale than personal use; so made this one this afternoon, using a piping foot for the first time.
KCYC Fashion Show
This last Friday my next door neighbor’s granddaughter beautifully modeled two of my recent dress designs. The top one shown here has a Paris theme with a beret made to wear with the dress. Hadley gave out white carnations to all the women attending the Mother’s Day luncheon. The dress features a T-shirt top with a Paris appliqué taken from the fabric.
The second dress is a class sailor dress with a fun hat to match. Both dresses are available to buy. This is new to me, so I working on pricing. Would love input.
