How to successfully have a Garden in the PNW

How to successfully have a Garden in the PNW

Here is the ultimate solution for having a garden in the Pacific Northwest. Plant your tomatoes and circle them with salt. Then use the open beer can technique and place close by. This should capture any and all slugs and snails before they have the opportunity to feast on your plantings.

Brilliant, but quite ugly idea!!

Simple Slug Solution

Simple Slug Solution

Here is a simple idea of how to put out your beer, to get rid of slugs in your garden. I could not “look” at the slugs in the left over cottage cheese container, and there seemed no way to put a lid on it, when I say this online and thought what a brilliant idea.

You don’t see the aftermath of the slugs, and you can see the trail to the beer can. Most are just big enough to fit inside. If you can buy cheap beer with a bigger opening that is even better.

Tip of the day: Bury open beer cans around your yard. Throw out once a week. Do NOT drink this beer, no matter how drunk you are or desperate for one more beer. Yuk!!

Bier Schwimmbad

Bier Schwimmbad

In German swimming pool is Schwimmbad and I think that is the perfect ending for a day of Slugging in my yard. My count is up to 147 with several diving in the mini swimming pools I have put in my yard. I wonder if a little bowl that had a diving board looking like a swimming pool would sell for yard art.

I like the idea. You never know what people might buy.

My Slug count is up to 147, but at that I think I might have to stop counting as I am not sure I want to “Clean my swimming pools” to keep an accurate accounting. At this count I am at 147! That is a lot of slugs in one yard?

Thought for the day: “The Germans got it right! Swimming is bad for the slug population!”
