Red Meets Black!

In addition to sketching and doing a relatively impressionistic type paint, I love doing big abstracts. This one did not take much time, but just made me happy painting. I usually put on some great music and just enjoy the energy. Stacey Kent is my newest artist of choice. I was introduced to her music when staying a friend’s house. With all the fires going on in Washington, Oregon and California the idea struck me that the all the fury of the fires leaves behind the sadness of the blackened trees and lost homes.

This is fairly large at 48″ wide x 24″ tall.

Stop and see my new and first ever booth #Red Plantation in Poulsbo. My dresses and a lot of fun “renewed” furniture projects will be featured there. My focus is mostly for children (and parents and grandparents). It has been a lot of fun getting everything ready. Hope you can stop by and leave a note.

In my group that comes to paint in my studio on Fridays, we were challenged to paint using the Zorn Method of color. This is painted so far using Black, white. yellow ochre and alizarin crimson. It is challenging and somewhat fun. Need to add depth and light yet.
