Eat Ice Cream

Eat Ice Cream

Let me just say first, that I really do LOVE men and have a wonderful husband. I took the photo of these women in Volterra, Italy and they just seemed to be having the best time together. While in Paris I bought a post-card with this man silhouetted walking away. The photo of the castle seemed magical to me. The women seemed to not have a care in the world, so it just fell together.

Cinque Terre on the Italian coast

After hiking up about 500 steps to the top of the hill I captured this photo view of the the beautiful town where we stayed for three days last summer.

Ah for the long and warm summer days. Fall is just cooling our evenings and crisping our mornings and I already long for the warmth of the summer sun.

Sketches from Venice

Sketches from Venice

When I traveled to Venice last June with my husband, Michael, there was never really time to sit and sketch. Now that I am retired I find sketching the photos I took to be so relaxing.

These are done with ink pen, soft colored pencils and a black prisma pencil.

Finding a book about Whistler’s work, I so enjoyed the style of some the drawings. The work in the book is pastel and pen, but colored pencil and ink along with a black pen were fun for me.

Having traveled to Italy last June I have lots of fun photos to work with from the different areas. I would love to know what you think??

Along the Road in Italy

Along the Road in Italy

Painting with my Friday group is always fun, as we select a topic and paint with that in mind. This was painted with Atmospheric Temperature in mind. the back disappears as the trees come forward.

I selected a very simple format from a photo I took on the bus riding between Volterra and Lucca. It was a lovely summer day!

The painting is 12 x 16 and is available for $425.00

The painting is just 5 x 7 and done in about 30 minutes. Not my favorite, but learning to work in different harmonies is important to grow your art.

Apple

Apple

The other day for a class I painted a bell pepper. It looked so lonely in the studio, I painted this 5 x 7 abstract apple to keep it company. Just like people, sometimes a piece of art looks all alone.
