Quiet noise for the backyard

Quiet noise for the backyard

Soft quiet noise is calming in many of our lives. At our home on the beach we have a water feature as you arrive to our gate, another between the house and the garage; but we had nothing on the water side of the house where we spend the most time. This Memorial Day weekend, my husband, son and I designed and added this water feature to the water side of our home. It is now so calming in our back yard and it lights at night.

Just another form of ART in the backyard. Enjoying the weather and time away from my art studio and in my yard. Got to get back to the studio soon.

Pond painting for a friend of mine

Pond painting for a friend of mine

This last month a friend asked me to paint her pond, so I had the opportunity to photograph and paint a scene.

It is fun to interpret a photograph into a painting as you will see here.  As Picasso said to Gertrude Stein ” You don’t paint what you see, you paint what you know.”

Lakeside

Lakeside

Can’t you just imagine relaxing in a boat, looking back at the shore? I see a scene from “On Golden Pond” where they do not fun into the rocks, if you remember the movie. The days of Fall are very beautiful in the Pacific Northwest.

Using a Palette knife is very freeing, scraping on paint and then scraping it, moving it and just having fun with it can give you a very natural painting.
