New Style

New Style

Today I woke up and had an idea. I have been working on this abstract and loved the colors, but thought it lacked something. Today I took an Oil Crayon and drew the nude on top of the abstract, then added skin tone to set it apart from the abstract. I feel it fit right in and it was so much fun to try something new.

What do you think??

It is starting to leave summer and turn into fall. You can feel it in the air. For me that means I feel less guilty about spending less time in my garden and more in my studio.

Isaac Asimov wrote:  “Writing, to me, is simply thinking through my fingers.”

To me painting is letting my fingers bring the thoughts from my mind to the canvas.

Venice Night

Finding a book about Whistler’s work, I so enjoyed the style of some the drawings. The work in the book is pastel and pen, but colored pencil and ink along with a black pen were fun for me.

Having traveled to Italy last June I have lots of fun photos to work with from the different areas. I would love to know what you think??

My Art Studio

Where you work and create is so different for every artist. Light, a great view, color, warmth, music and good easels all help make a space more inviting.

As I often work from photographs that I personally take, I need to be able to see them, so the television screen is great for that.

I love surrounding myself with my favorite art books, and a couple comfortable chairs to sit and enjoy them. Friends come by to paint, making the space even more cozy.

Many of you may have seen this, but in flowing colors it shares how artists and designers see the world, in flowing vibrant color! Wish I knew the artist that came up with this, but do not.
